Hotel/Inn in the area of the Pantheon Roma.

We will be two couples + we may have our DD with us for this part of our trip. DH & I have previously been to Rome and stayed in an apartment right by the Pantheon. We loved the area and had a couple of fav' place for coffee and dining that we would love to go back to, plus just soaking up the general feeling of being so close to such a wonderful site.

Our two traveling companions have also been to Rome but it didn't work out so well for them. They had a terrible time. So we would love to be able to show them 'our Rome'. Unfortunately as we will only be there 3 nights (may be able to stretch it to 4) that pretty much rules out an apartment. So we are looking for a nice, quaint interesting but lovely hotel in the general area.

I'd love to hear your suggestions. It will be early October and we are all in our 'lateish' 40's. (DD will be 22) Budget will depend on the place, don't mind paying a bit more for something really nice.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by "budget" or "a bit more". EVeryone has differnet pricepoints. I know two great hotels in that area - which I think are defintel worth the cost. But unless you give us a euro amount (and if per room or for 2 double rooms) how can we help?

In some places we are spending 120 in others 300 per room per night, so I was hoping that if you "knew of two great hotels in the area" you might have shared them anyway. Even if maybe its more than I want to spend it may be perfect for the next researcher .

Thats why I didn't put an exact amount I tried to express that we are flexible and open to suggestions.

Thanks so much.

If you like apartments, why do you conclude that apartments are ruled out?
Many companies offer apartments by the day -- for example, romecapitalapartments and sleepinitaly, both of which I have used with complete satisfaction.

We have stayed at both the Santa Chiara and at del Senato; preferred del Senato.

You can certainly get an apartment for 4 days, and many of them are available for 3. Look at SleepinItaly.com.

Luxury: Grand Hotel de la Minerve (my fav)

Excellent 3 star with a high price tag (IMO): Del Senato

Albergo Santa Chiara and Albergo Cesari are both more reasonable options in this area.

Here is their website: http://www.albergocesari.it/inglese/hotel.htm

We had a personal tour of the forum a few years from the daughter of the people who run this hotel (she is a licensed guide and also does Vatican tours). I haven't stayed there, but have heard only good things about it and the family.

Albergo del Senato was amazing, but we are using Sleepinitaly to book an apartment in the area for our next visit. They had quite a few in the region, but be sure to look at the MAPS, not at their descriptions. Their idea of a "few steps from" may not be the same as yours! Good luck - this is one of our favorite areas of Rome as well... have a cappuccino for us at Tazza D'Oro!

Woh, thank you all so much. I've just booked our beautiful farm stay on the ridge between Sorento and Positano. So now I have to get serious about Rome & Tuscany. Such fun, thanks again.

I have stayed at the Albergo del Senato as well and loved it. Am staying at the Albergo Santa Chiara for the first time in about ten days and will give you a report upon my return.
