Hotel in Venice? Which one?
There will be 4 adults and 2 children (age 6 and 9)traveling to Italy in April. We will be in Venice for two nights. Any suggestions?

The Rialto Hotel, www.rialtohotel.com
It's on the Grand Canal right next to the Rialto Bridge with a Vaporetto stop and Gondola station at the front door. Instant Venice! They have family rooms and the kids will love it. |
Hannah,
Our family will be traveling to Venice the end of March. Hotels are easily researched using Venere.com, TripAdvisor.com, and this site and many more. I found hotels to be pretty expensive for our budget, especially adding 2 children, for a quad room. My criteria was comfort for all of us, especially after a very long flight in at night, enough room for us, I have a teen; price and close proximity to the train station etc. Hope this helps. You don't mention your budget, but I recommend Hotel Flora. They have a website but I can't recall it right now, but try hotelflora.it.

Thanks all! My daughter found a place. I looked at the hotels suggested--they look great.

I also like the Flora. We satyed in a quad there. I'm assuming you plan on taking 2 rooms. I don't think rooms for 6 exists, except maybe in apartments.
If you want a quad/family room, contact hotels directly. Many of the booking and hotel web sites don't even mention them. I think the FLora has 1, maybe 2 rooms it uses as either a triple or quad. |
We were in Venice when our kids were also 6 and 9, we stayed at the Rialto which DownUnder mentioned and loved it. It was a nice location for us, the rooms had plenty of room and the beds were huge (our kids shared one huge bed in their room) staff was extremely helpful, setting up early evening gondola ride, directing us to best sweet shops, lunch places near St. Marks that had good choices for our kids, etc. - also can't remember the name but there was , then, an almost cafeteria style restaurant a door or two down from the Rialto which had good food at reasonable price and lots for the kids - we ate our lunch there on arrival before heading out.
