Yes,my husband and I just stayed there with our two young children. We paid 100 euro per night w/breakfast included. We had difficulty finding the hotel. However, my husband and I both have no sense of direction. It is right on the Grand Canal and close to the Rialto Bridge.

You may want to add a very important question regarding your hotel selection.
How quiet is it? A lot of hotels in Venice can be loud. Perhaps Nonrewer can answer this. If it's quiet, take it. If not too quiet, look at Hotel Campiello, just off the western warf about 75 yards from St. Marks Square. Perfect location and quiet. Enjoy!

Nonrewer - was it nice? clean? quiet or loud? pretty? pleasant to stay at? would you recommend it?

nonrevver Mar 29th, 2004 07:37 PM

Yes, I would recommend the hotel as a good value for the money. It was nice and clean and the bathroom was ensuite.I do have two complaints, though. First, I had trouble locating the place, as they did not have a sign outdoors. Second, the wooden floor was made of "slats" that were loose. Whenever one walked across the floor, it clicked clacked. Even barefoot, it sounded like one was wearing high heels. However, I feel like these are minor complaints. My husband met a gentleman paying 400 Euros a night at a place that did not have hot water!

wow! finding hotels in Italy is turning into such an overwhelming task! thank you for the info. Did you have a canal view? is it worth the extra $100?

nonrevver Mar 29th, 2004 08:12 PM

We had a view of a side canal, not the Grand Canal.

was the canal view worth the extra money?

nonrevver Mar 29th, 2004 08:36 PM

Is the canal view an extra $100? If that is the case, no. We were not in the room much anyway.
