Hotel in Venice

I'm looking for a good hotel within walking distance of S.Lucia train station in Venice.
Thanks for helping in my search.

Any particular price range? Do you need private bath, air conditioning, elevator, canal view? How many people?

Hi

We will be staying at the Hotel Capri this Fall.

We got a reduced rate through TravelNow.com

Hi Rufus,
Sorry, I was not specific enough.
Here goes: Price range $100.00 (give or take)
Private Bath: Yes
A/C: Desirable, but not necessary.
Elevator: Not needed.
Canal View: Great, if possible, not needed.
People: 2
Is the area around the S.Lucia train station, generally considered safe?

I can't comment to safety near the train station, but it is easy to catch a vaporetto from the station to most places in town. Maybe you have a specific reason for wanting to stay close, just thought I'd mention this in case you haven't been to Venice before.

We stayed at a pensione which was an ideal location - will look up the name for you. Found a great website for our travels to Spain called Circum Vista that was most helpful - give them a try for hotel ideas. I have found 2 stars in very nice as long as there is a bathroom in room and it is clean and safe. Save the money for shopping and eating!!

Hi hcoltman,
Thank you. I'll keep an eye open for your message.

Hi Louise,
Fred posted a request for hotels close to the station on 1/13. I tried to find that thread for you and I hope this works:

If it doesn't, (i'm new at this) type in Walter and Canal and read that thead. That was the hotel that I stayed at and recommended. It was a long post, so didn't want to repeat it again unless necessary.
Good luck,
Carol
