Hotel in summer - air cond a must?
 

Humor me with another London hotel question, if you will! My daughter and I are going to London in July. Since most smaller hotels do not have air in Europe (London), will this be unbearable? I've not been to London in the summer so don't know what to expect. <BR> <BR>If you think air cond is a good idea, can anyone recommend a small hotel that has air? <BR> <BR>Thanks!!

Can't really help you with an air conditioned hotel in London, but want you to know that it is not only smaller hotels that don't have AC, many of the larger ones don't have it either. The past few times we have been to London, it has been in early or Mid June. We stayed at Hotel Russell the past 3 trips to London, which is fairly large but doesn't have AC. But they do have fans, if you request 1, & with that & the windows open, it was bearable. Even in June, there have been comfortable days, & some that have been very hot. But even after a day's worth of touring on a comfortable day, you can get fairly warm by the time you get to your room. If you can find a room with AC, in July I think it would be a welcome & refreshing amenity after walking all day.

If anyone knows of a few air cond hotels in London, please post. Thanks much!

We stayed in an apartment in London in late June and found it comfortable without air conditioning.

Lu, we stayed at the London Guards Hotel <BR>in the Bayswater area , a block or two from the Lancaster Gate tube. The hotel is not fancy and their breakfast is very basic toast and tea but it was clean, reasonably priced and thankfully air conditioned! We were there in '98 in June and we would have been very uncomfortable without the air conditioning. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.
