Hotel in Siena?

Quick question, Can anyone offer some info? I'm leaving for Italy in 3 weeks and I am trying to plan a pit stop from Florence to Rome. I was looking for a nice rustic town to spend a 2 nights. I'm leaning toward Siena because I can take a bus from Florence and a bus to Rome. Can anyone suggest a good fairly priced hotel in the city. I want to be in the city center with walking access to the major points of interest. thanks a lot. Pete

Might also consider Orvieto regional train there and

Hotel Grand Italie awesome there from 100 euro

Cool little Etruscan Hill town beautiful less crowded.

Several years ago we stayed at the Hotel Duomo in Siena. It was quite nice, and our room did have the view of the Duomo. There is a nice rooftop terrace which we also enjoyed.

If you decide on Orvieto, we have stayed at the Hotel Corso, and may stay there again this fall.

Villa Liberty is a nice place with a fair price.

Budget hotel in the center with AC:

A couple of minutes walk to the Duomo or Campo (and close to Piazza Gramsci to catch most buses). View of the Duomo from rooms.

Anyone find a good place with parking?

I know that means it has to be located outside the walls but there must be a fair number of people who use Siena as a base to visit nearby towns.

Yes, Santa Caterina, just outside the Porta Romana gate on S-2 heading south---you must request parking.

We will have a car and have booked at the Hotel Athena in Siena, which is just inside the city wall. The hotel has parking available and has great reviews on TA.

Thanks for all the info, Pete

Never thought to view Siena as a 'rustic town'...

I second the NH Excelsior--clean rooms, breakfast included; right across from the bus station as well.

We enjoyed the Palazzo Ravizza and they had parking at the back of the hotel.

Thanks, Ravissa and Caterina has higher rates than I'd like to pay.

I tried Il Giardino, which claims to be 900 meters from the Campo.

Anyone stay there?

Check out Canon D'Oro on TA.
