hotel in Siena?
I'll be going to Italy at the end of this month. Does anyone have suggestions for a reasonably priced single room in Siena?
|
Jeanneq, I live part of the time in Siena and I 'd suggest Albergo Antica Torre, Via Fiera Vecchia 7, ph:39(<for Italy)+ (0577)222255. It's a medieval tower that was recently renovated. Unfortunately the few rooms are very often all booked but give it a try.
Buon Viaggio !

Try the Alma Domus. It is run by nuns, spartan but clean rooms, good price. It is located by San Domimica church.
|
You can also try the Chiusarelli at 15 via Curtatone (0577/28-05-62)near San Domenico. We were shown into a room that we did not like and so they switched us to another room with a little balcony overlooking a park behidn the hotel. The hotel is very clean and pretty with nice service. Although its location is considered to be on the outskirts of the main piazza, it is really only a short 10 minute walk.

1998 prices for a single were about 80,000L.

Good luck. Siena is my absolute favorite city in Italy. The Duomo is stunning and there are also flute concerts at the music academy. You must take some time to get lost among the maze of small streets.
Hotel Duomo is elegant and a good value, but you have to work with the staff to get their attention. It is within walking distance to the big sites, but those hills are killers. Great shops. Streets not as dirty s most towns.
