Hotel in Sevilla
My wife and I will be visiting Sevilla from 18th to 20 April. I have heard of the traffic and parking conditions there and is relunctant to drive. If I would take a train, can some kindsoul reccommend a budget hotel near the train station so that we do not have to drag our luggage all over.
Is it viable to walk or take public transport in the city and to the Italica? Thank you. |
It's been a few years since we visited Madrid and Seville. We stayed in a wonderful district near the magnificent Gothic Cathedral at the Dona Maria Hotel. We loved the hotel. It was in a wonderful location, walking distance from the Alcazar and other places of interest. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The included breakfast wasn't the best we'd ever had, but it was a good start to the day. Take a look: http://tinyurl.com/d8fza2
We went to Italica by public bus and got along fine. Sorry I can't help with any hotels around the train station, which usually is not the ideal area to stay in most cities. We took a cab to our hotel, which I had reserved before we left on our trip. |
I WOULD NOT stay near the train station. You're much better off staying in the old center, so that it's convenient for you to do sightseeing on foot during the time you're there. Last year, I took a taxi from my hotel in Barrio Santa Cruz to the train station, and it was only €5.

<Barrio Santa Cruz>
Thank you yk. That's the area we stayed in, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the name when I posted above. Was driving me nuts! Now I can enjoy my evening. LOL |
I stayed at Hotel Alcantara last year. Fairly budget.

We, too, had a pleasant stay at Hotel Alcantara.
Rather than worrying about dragging your luggage all over, I'd concentrate on doing everything possible to PACK LIGHT. In other words, CARRY-ON ONLY! Lightening your load will make a HUGE difference whether you travel by plane, train, bus, foot, etc. |
Hi ray. We arrive in Seville on the 20th and depart on the 23rd of April. Our hotel is in the Santa Cruz Area. The hotel is www.hotelalminar.com/ We arrive mid afternoon on the 20th with my daughter and husband. If there was any chance of an afternoon 'wine', that would be great. iris1745/dick

I dont think so as we will have to take a noon train to Malaga to catch an evening flight home. A great pity! You see we would have spent 7 days in Malaga by then and Seville is our last city.
We wish your family a pleasant holiday. |
