PJ, Rather than go to the trouble of moving hotels, why don't you have your hotel call a cab to take you to the station?

There are four Ibis hotels in the area of Gare de l'Est.

Unfortunately there is a problem with the Hotel mayfair, so we are going to have to stay for 3 nigths because they are already paid for. As principle I want to leave, becauese they messed up our reservations.

Is the gare d'est alright to stay close too? I am thinking of not worring about gare d'est and just move to another hotel close by.Just wanted some feedback. thank you PJ

Eww, I'm really sorry to hear that. I have two friends coming in who are staying at the Mayfair.

I think Mayfair will be fine, but they gave us a promotion on the last day of our stay way back in june 2006. I got a confirmation that I printed, then I reconfirmed that we still had the deal in February and they confirmed everything was in order.
I got a call from Mayfair yesterday, that there was a mistake and the promotion was not possible. We can stay for first 3 nights at a reduce cost but the last night was alot more than originally quoted.
We have been going back and forth on the price and bottom line she would only give me 5 euro reduction for their mistake.
So out of principle I am moving for my last night in paris. I am sure hotel Mayfair will be lovely, so don't have your friends worry. It was just problem with a promised rate for me that didn't come true! PJ

Thanks, PJ. I had decided not to mention it. No sense worrying them needlessly.

I have booked my last night at Hotel Du Danube, I usually stay there but sometime packages are cheaper.
I will tell you Hotel Du Danube is wonderful and I am glad I get to stay there even for just one night.
