Hotel in Paris

Hello,

I might go to Paris soon and I'd like to know where to stay. Saint-Germain des prés seems to be great (I found this post : http://www.originalstay.com/paris/bl...hotel-in-paris), but I'd like to have your advices. I'm looking for central location, around 200€/night, pleaseant area.

We stay at the following - doubles around €130 a night:

Hotel Bonaparte - www.hotelbonaparte.fr

Hotel Saint Jacques - http://www.paris-hotel-stjacques.com/

The Great and Powerful Thingorjus recommends Hotel College de France if you want a small, homey hotel. It is right off of Blvd. St. Germain and across the street from the Sorbonne.

Why not try to stay in an apartment instead?

I stayed in the Quartier Latin on the following:

http://www.paris-apartment-rent.com/studio/latin.html

an apartment that can have 4 people for 130 euros per night.

I could cook my own meals and I was very happy to be in

a "home" rather then a room.

Thanks for your advices ... Jamikins, I'm interested in the Hotel Bonaparte, can you tell me what are the point of interest near this hotel ?

Saint Sulpice and Boul Saint Germaine - lots of shopping too. lux gardens is just around the corner.

Well, if you want any info. on the Hotel Bonaparte, just ask Ira. He is the biggest cheerleader in Fodorville for this hotel.

In fact, Thingorjus thinks he is a silent partner in the hotel.

That area is my favourite in all of Paris, by the way.

We stayed at Hotel du Fleurie this summer. The location was great. Nice hotel- I'd stay there again.

Ben,
The Hotel bonaparte has a great location just about next to St Sulpice. Just a note: there is some creepy business next door to the hotel with some weird drawings on the windows. Hotel Odeon is another you might want to check out, its my favorite when Im on a budget

but nobody advised you to stay in a Hotel Napoleon, you chose that yourself, I think. Do you mean Hotel Bonaparte?

i just returned from a stay at HOTEL BUCI. I got a good deal on expedia and paid 574 dollars for 3 nite. It has a great location right in the thick of things just a few blocks from Deaux Magots. the hotel is small, rooms very clean, service superb. It is in a noisy area but i did not hear any noise in my room. there was a notice that starting yesterday they had a few floors closed for renovation. for the price hotel buci is great. it is very difficult to find a clean hotel at prices lower than 200 euro. i usually stay in 4 star hotels so i was very leary of this one. The desk was very pleasant and helpful.

it is very difficult to find a clean hotel at prices lower than 200 euro. That is just not true. I bet I could list 50 clean well situated hotels at under 200 euro

Creepy business next door to the Bonaparte with drawings? What kind of creepy business? What kind of drawings?

To the original poster, if you do a search for Hotel Bonaparte...I just asked about it (and pros and cons of it over another hotel we were considering, the Familia). The kind people at Fodor's gave me tons of great information on both...so you might want to take a look.

Another vote for Hotel Saint Jacques. Just stayed there with my mom (who is very picky) and really liked it. Location is great (Notre Dame right up the street - great neighborhood with little stores that stay open late for those last-minute runs before retiring for the night).

Staff is great too.
