Hotel in Nottinghill
Can anyone recommend a hotel in the Nottinghil area? I was hoping to keep the rate at around 150GBP. Typically I stay away from the chains and opt for the more traditional or boutique type properties. Thanks for your responses.

Don't stay there, it's out of the way and "trendy" and oh so passé my dear.
Stay at Claridge's in Mayfair - high quality, superb, one of my favourite hotels in London. |
Hi DrF,
We stayed there not too long ago. Notting Hill is not the sort of place where you would wish to pay 150GBP/nite. It's full of small hotels that cater to students. I suggest Bloomsbury with a visit to Portobello Road. |
Or stay in South Kensington and walk up Kensington Church Street - browsing in the antique shops - to the Notting Hill area.

I agree with the others, stay in mayfair and just visit portobello road. I think the Claridge's cost much more than 150BP. If you still want to stay in the Nottinghill area you may want to check out the Portobello Hotel.

There is a great, boutiquey hotel that costs from £125 a night, right near to the centre of Notting Hill. It is a large, detached building a stone's about ten mins' walk from Portobello Rd. Very good for transport adn you are not staying in a touristy spot. Real people live there! http://www.guesthousewest.com |
If you're lucky you should be able to get Claridge's for around 185-200GBP per night. Suppose you're in London for a week, I think an extra 300-400GBP for the entire stay is nothing compared to the memorable experience you will have staying at this art deco legend.

Thanks to you all- You know I always usually stay in Mayfair or rather St James at the Duke, but was trying to cut cost on the expense this time. I'll surf around and see what else I can find.

I was happy with the Comfort Inn Notting Hill. I had a very nice room with new bathroom. Also it is just steps from the tube.
Good luck. |
