Hotel in Nerja in Nov
Having trouble with our hotel choice in Nerja in late Nov. The Parador and Paraiso del Mar are closed then, and information on any other hotels seems hard to come by. We have considered the Portofino (no fax number) and the Marisal (Marisel?) but really don't know anything about them.

I know the Balcon de Europa is well recommended, but have also heard that it can be noisy and somewhat plain.

We're only staying 2 nights, so even a one star is fine, but we prefer to be central.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I would tell you to reconsider the Balcon de Europa. We did all our arrangements with them via email and got a jr suite (overlooking Med) for about $115 a night. The suite was anything but plain - very very nice. The rest of the hotel might be described as plain but our room wasn't. Also - it is right in the 'middle' of things there in Nerja. Plenty of places to eat and see right out the front door. The only bad thing we encountered there was the food on the breakfast buffet - many British tourists stay there and they tailor the foods to their tastes - and I will leave it up to your imagination what that means. We had a great stay there and loved our room!

Thanks Mary Lewis. Do you still have that e-mail address? I can't seem to find it. Thanks again.

The email address I used was: [email protected]
I wrote my email in English and they had no problem getting back to me in English.

I am booked at the Marisel in Nerja in october but don't have much info on it (other than that it is within my rather tight budget!) Can anyone give a description of this hostal?

Much thanks,
Kate

Kate, I can't tell you anything about the rooms but the Hostal Marissal is in a great location on the Balcon de Europa next to the Hotel Balcon. The street floor is a restaurant and the rooms are on the second floor. I'm sure it will be fine. Have a wonderful time in the beautiful little town of Nerja!
