Thanks, Woodsie and Desert Sue! Am I insane to think it's OK to stay over in Milan when we have a 10AM flight out of Malpensa on a Thurs morning? We don't really want to give up a day/night in Milan unless absolutely necessary.

I always stay in Milan the night before a flight. The evening passegiato in Milan is so enjoyable, and having a cocktail in a nice bar, either outdoors or in is so relaxing, and the choice of restaurants is fantastic.

Yes, I have to get up early to be at the airport by 7 or 7:30, but I've never had a hotel fail to give me a wake up call or produce a taxi by pre-arrangement to take me to the shuttle that gets me to the airport on time.

Wouldn't miss a night in Milan for the world.

By the way, if you can afford the Spadari, go for it. It's an excellent hotel.

hotel spadari made several recommendations for us, the best was Osteria Borromei, they will give you a photocopy map with directions
