Hotel in Marais/Louvre

Looking for a decent hotel in the Marais or near the Louvre. Under $200/night for two women traveling together. Suggestions? Websites to try? I used DiscoverFrance.com several years ago. Would like to be in or near a neighborhood with cafe's etc.

Thanks in advance - always love using this site!

Hi C,

We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 124E dbl w/bkfst. Has AC

It is about 1 km from the Louvre via the Pont des Arts.

Cindy...may I suggest a newly-renovated and minimalistically designe and furnished hotel in the Marais..we just stayed there last weekend.... Formerly Hotel Axial Beaubourg, now named Hotel Duo. Rates are in the 169-170E's range (a bit beyond your under $200 request)..elevator, breakfast lounge, but many cafes on same street, many serving much less expensive breakfast fare.

And I recommend the Hotel Relais du Louvre in the first...across the street from the Louvre and the St. Germaine de Auxois (spelling stinks, I know...) church.
Close to your budget ...

Thank you for the recommendations. So many to choose from! The Marais website is great. Any recommendations for a nice dinner, not too pricy, not terribly touristy?

When do you visit? Regarding the Caron de Beaumarchais it books up very early nowadays.

We are in Paris June 13 - 15, then on to a wedding in Belgium.

For dinner, maybe 20 E.

The Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais looks amazing! One question, why don't the hotels in the Marais include breakfast? I thought most French hotels did.

Underhill May 13th, 2006 09:52 AM

Not all French hotels include breakfast in the rates; in fact, for a long time that was illegal except for special offers. Now it's becoming more common, but unfortunately it can mean higher rates for rooms.

In the first, we like the Hôtel Mansart, right off the Place Vendôme. It would fit nicely into your price range and is a very pleasant small hotel with old-Paris charm. Breakfasts there are moderately priced and good, with second and thirds if you want them. You can also hoof it over to Le Pain Quotidien on the Place du Marché St-Honoré, a bakery/café that does great breakfasts and lunches at very reasonable prices. It's only a walk of two blocks or so.

Almost none of the small hotels in Paris include breakfast as part of the price though most have a continental breakfast which is served at a charge. I usually go elsewhere as is cheaper and usually more fun. re dinners..lots of places. I would suggest avoiding restos with an English menu. Order the "menu" which is a fixed price meal. Usually very good and usually represents significan savings.

The Grand Hotel Jeanne-d'Arc sounds perfect for you. We almost stayed there, but I decided to head to the other bank :-)

Read Fodor's review on this website and here's the link -

You can add breakfast for 6 euros.

I stayed in the Hotel Mansart in February and highly recommend it. Like Underhill stated, the location at the Place Vendome is excellent - its right around the corner from the Ritz. I paid 135 eutos a night for a huge room with two single beds. Breakfast was included.

For a very detailed review that I wrote about this hotel, see:
