You don't way what you want to spend. I would suggest the
MELIA CASTILLA
CALLE CAPITAN HAYA 43
28020 MADRID
SPAIN

very very nice hotel in good area close to everything you need. This is 4 star.

link at
http://www.solmelia.com/cgi-bin/solmelia/dirdinamic/hotelhtml?12804

You also don't say when, so I used mid-July and found these rates for double 90-134 dollars (US) depending on day (week end or not etc)...for this hotel this is CHEAP --it is very nice

I like Hotel Intur Palacio San Martin on Plaza Descalzas. It is elegant and not too pricey, quiet and well-located. They have non-smoking rooms but a non-smoking hotel would be difficult to find in Spain

Hi Sharon, this fall we stayed at the recently renovated and recently opened Hotel Villa de la Reina on
la Gran Via near the Paseo de la Castellana. This is a 4 stars, that ( may be because it is new ) offered great rates considering it is a four star hotel. And it was great. Very nice rooms with lots of wood, nice bathrooms with circular stainless steel sinks, good service and very good buffet breakfast. But as I said it was the rate we paid that makes it a very good buy.It belongs to the chain H10 hotels.

I'd suggest Hotel Mayorazgo - right off the Gran Via and two blocks away from the Metroo. Beautiful rooms, great service, and a delicious breakast.

We stayed at Hotel Atlantico on Gran Via. It's a very nice Best Western with nice breakfast room, nice baths and small but nice and clean rooms for under $100 per night US. We liked it and would return.
