Hotel in Lake Geneva Area
My husband and I are having a belated honeymoon in Muerren for a week in mid-January, but I have one day on the way there to spend somewhere along the Lake Geneva area. I'm looking at places like Glion, Celigny, Gruyeres or St. Saphorin. Can anyone suggest a town and especially an affordable hotel? I'm wanting to get a taste of the French area of Switzerland and something scenic and not too busy. Many many thanks. Katherine

Hi, if you're still looking, you might glance at this list, considered moderate hotels. The only one I'm familiar with at a glance is the Au Major Duvel in Cully, a charming little lakeside town between Vevey and Lausanne. You didn't say if you were training or driving, but there is another lovely little hotel along the road that runs between St. Saphorin and Vevey. The name escapes me right now. Anyway, depending upon what you consider to be affordable (I'm only a two star person myself), you should be able to find something at that Swiss riviera site. Too bad that you're not going when the vineyards are at their prettiest. J.

Gruyeres is a sweet town but we just went for lunch on a day trip and to see the castle there, so don't remember about hotels.
Vevey, which is right on the lake and about an hour outside Geneva, is a favorite of mine. But may be larger town than what you have in mind.
St. Saphorin makes some great wine, that's all I know about that one! Enjoy... it is a spectacularly lovely part of the world!!

Thanks everyone for your help!! I really appreciate it. After your suggestions, we decided to go for Vevey and booked a hotel (Hotel De La Place) in Corsier, just above the city.
Thanks again.
