Hotel in Granada
Has anyone stayed at the hotel casa del capital Nazari in Granada? How far is it from the Alahambra?
|
The Casa del Capitel Nazari Hotel is a member of the Epoque Hotels and is considered a luxury boutique hotel. It's located in the Albaicin, next to Plaza Nueva in the center of Granada, a short walk from the Alhambra, and close to the cathedral.
|
Please be aware that the Alhambra is very uphillfrom the city itself.

catch one of the buses that go to the alhambra. Be aware that there are only a certain number of tickets that are sold in a day. It is strongly advisable to get to the alhambra ticket office by 7.30am to ensure entry - the queue will be huge even at that time. Tickets sell out fast. No doubt the hotel will warn you to get there early....

You can also reserve Alhambra tickets on line:
https://w3.grupobbva.com/ALHAMBRA/alhambra/home.html be aware, however, that even if you do reserve them ahead there still may be a long line (depending on the time of year) in which you wait to pick up pre-reserved tickets. Last July when we visited that ticket pick-up line was almost an hour long. |
I like to thank eveyone for very helpful responds.

Or better still, ask your hotel to get the tickets for you. No qeueing to collect pre-booked, just walk straight in

Me and my husband stayed at The Casa del Capitel Nazari Hotel couple years ago and it was great. Make sure you ask for the room with the view of the Alhambra. In reality you can see it from the room, through a court yard and trough the roofs of other buildings. The hotel has a great court yard with a fountain in the center and is very peaceful and beautiful. This hotel is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed.
Note: That there is no need to stay in Granada for more than one night. We went there for 2 nights and we ran out of things to do and to see. You will have to take a bus to go to the Alhambra. |
We stayed at the Hotel America last year. It and the Parador are the only hotels on the grounds of the Alhambra. It was very convenient (a short walk) to pick up the Alhambra tickets first thing in the morning, and then go back for our 2pm tour. The city bus system makes it easy to visit downtown Granada as well as the very picturesque Albayzin district.

My daughter & I stayed at this hotel three years ago. I don't remember it being outstanding, but it is well located. However, I wouldn't say it was in walking distance of the Alhambra. There is a jitney that runs from Plaza Nueva very frequently which goes to the Alhambra. Don't miss the cave Flamingo performances (forgot what they are called). Touristy, yes, but worth seeing. Also, be sure to visit Capilla Real and see the tombs of Ferdinand & Isabella.
We spent two days in Granada and I feel I could have definitely spent more time there. |
Kate,
Thanks for the good advise. So if the hotel makes the reservation, Will they have the tickets at the hotel front desk or do we still have to stand in line? What is the offcial web site for the Alhambra? |
