Hotel in Freiburg

My wife and I will be travelling by train in southern Germany from the UK next summer. Can anyone recommend a nice comfortable hotel in central Freiburg please?

I liked Hotel Minerva very much. Charming, central and relatively quiet location.

Thanks Ingo. I've checked their website and it looks just right.

We love Freiburg! Stayed here several years ago and loved the location on a quiet street not far from the center. Breakfast was awesome. Don't miss the market around the cathedral. My husband, who is of German descent, loves the wurst at the market. Although we've only been there twice, the servers in the stall that sold wurst recognized him on our second trip.

Absolutely love this city. While we usually have chosen to stay outside of the city for that "country" feel, we have stayed here and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is excellent as well.

This is Freiburg's best (and, I am afraid) most expensive hotel:

I can recommend it. Maybe you find an acceptable rate in summer.

Thinking that replies had dried up, I had not been checking this page. Thanks for all your helpful suggestions everyone, we now have plenty of time to research them.

OK, so what about the same question for Heidelberg? A good central hotel?

Thanks again.

Oops, I forgot to post the link to the hotel I recommended above, the Alleehaus. Here goes:
