Hotel in Florence
Changed my dates in Florence and my hotel cannot accommodate them. Of course I would like something centrally located near Duomo or Pantheon? First time visitor. Not a budget hotel.Hotel Scarlatti was recommended to me but it is on the other side of the Arno.
Any Suggestions? |
Hotel Torre Guelfa (http://www.hoteltorreguelfa.com/) would be a place to consider. Great rooftop bar. We did not stay here but heard it is very good. We opted to stay at Residence Palazzo Belfiore (http://www.palazzobelfiore.it/) which we loved but it's on the other side of the Arno.
Good luck with your travel plans. |

I stayed at the Hotel Torre Guelfa mentioned above last March and would stay there again. Great breakfast buffet, too.

We really liked the Albani Firenze on Via Fiume near Via Nazionale. He less expensive choice is Mario's Hotel on Via Faenza, also just off of Via Nazionale. We've stayed at both and liked each property.
Buon viaggio, |
The "other" side of the Arno would be much preferred by some people, including me. Do not discount staying there.
The area near the Duomo is clogged with tourists, even more than many other aprts of the city. The Basilica de Santa Croce is the name of what you refer to as the pantheon. It is a bit of a walk from the Duomo and not what I would consider centrally located, although that could be debated. How much do you want to spend? |
We stayed at Hotel Alessandra and found it to be in a very convenient location. The hotel, service and breakfast was great too.

Like ekscrunchy, I prefer to be on the other side of the river or a little outside of the center. Dead-center of tourist Florence is just too mobbed for me, but YMMV.
I stayed here summer 2016, and really liked the location. Quiet, old fashioned almost pensione style but luxe. Excellent area for restaurants. http://www.xeniahc.com/it/hotel/palazzo-guicciardini |

bumping this as i am looking myself.
going in July so hoping to find the best mix of locale but still somewhat further from the main hub of tourist hell. i have these listed now as top picks but i am open to other options: Grand Hotel Minerva** Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco** Hotel Davanzati* Palazzo Niccolini al Duomo 1865 Residenza d'epoca Palazzo Roselli Cecconi Canto degli Scali |
From the train station to the river isn't exactly a huge area.
The question I'd ask is how are you arriving? If you're taking a cab then it doesn't really matter. If you're taking the train and dragging bags behind you then something closer to the train station will be less painful on arrival/departure day. But a km one way or the other is only 15-20 minutes on foot |

I'd like to spend around 200.I'd like to stay someplace where there is a helpful staff. Sounds like staying on the other side of the Arno is a good idea. Perhaps I will just keep my reservation La Scaletta unless you can recommend something. I'm only going on what I've read. (Any thoughts about a hotel in rome? near the center |
Tourist House Ghiberti- loved it. Great location, impeccably clean. Big beds and bathrooms and kind staff.

I second Bob the Navigator's suggestion of the Casci; well located
with a family atmosphere. Also, Hotel Tournibuonni (sp?) on street of same name. Nice property although we haven't there in a couple of years. Was a favorite of ours for years! |
