hotel in dublin
 

Will be traveling to dublin mid-december for 3 days. Would like to see the major sites and drink in some pubs, not necessarily in that order. Is there a part of town that is better to stay in? Also, any hotel recommendations? Thanks

The Westin has the best location if you are interested in pubs. Cross the street and you at at temple bar. Excellent hotel as well.

The Morrisson Hotel is another good spot. Designed by John Rocha- it's something different and the location is good too.

We stayed at the Mont Clare near Merrion Square, near Trinity. Very nice, great location. We got an internet deal for 115 euros. I highly recommend it.

Phillip, we liked Stephens on the Green, it's on the south of St. Stephens Green and in walking distance to lots of fun, and the staff and rooms were great. Have a grand time!

I just returned from Dublin and stayed at the Ashling on my final night. It is right across the street from Heuston station which is great if you are going to take any bus tours. It is also easy to get to the airport on the bus at Heuston station for only 4.50 euros. The bus and train tours are great for seeing the country if you are not renting a car. The Ashling is not fancy, but it is very clean and nice, a Best Western hotel with a full breakfast.

I returned last month and stayed a few nights at the Westin College Green, GREAT LOCATION! I also stayed a few nights at the Clarence, great hotel also in a very good location. It took me 2 weeks worth of trying but managed to get The Westin on priceline for $145 a night including tax. I was confirmed only 2 days before my trip. I bid at $125 and won it at that bid. If you try priceline pick 4 star and city centre. <BR>These 2 hotels are only 4 blocks from each other. One is at one end of Temple Bar and the other, the Westin is at the begining. The Westin, Clarence, Morrison stc are quite expensive hotels. I know the Westin you can get a deal on at laterooms.com <BR><BR>The Mont Clare, Davenport and Alexander Hotel are all sister hotels and very nice a reasonable. They are beside Merrion Sq near the Govt buildings and 10 mins from Grafton street shopping and pubs. Brooks Hotel is 2-3 streets behind grafton Street and an excellent location for Dublin. Much nicer than Jurys in my opinion.<BR><BR>The Aisling is a best Western and its fine for 1-2 nights but I feel its far from the centre and to be honest the neighborhood is iffy at night. They are doing construction on the roads for a tram system and the prostitutes and junkies have moved down to this section as the other road is closed off. Saying that if you take taxis at night and just use as a place to say it's ok. I use it to book work function rooms for meetings and they are really helpful.<BR><BR>To eat and drink and sample the nightlife stay nearer to Grafton Street and you can walk to temple bar where many of the pubs are.
