Hotel in Carcassonne

We need a recommendaiton for a hotel with free parking, and easily walkable distance in Caracassone. Thanks.

I believe all the hotels with free parking are in the lower town, which means a hike up to the walled city. I've stayed at the Hôtel le Donjon within the walls, but they are now charging 15 euro a day for parking.

Try the Mercure Porte de la Cite. They may still offer free parking.

They do, along with 20+ other hotels, but you still gotta get yourselves up to the walled city. t's an either-or situation, I think.

I agree not likely to find a place inside the walls that will offer free parking...just too crowded and space too costly.

We stayed at the hotel Montmorency directly across and down one block from the entrance. Very convenient and free parking across from the hotel.

Second StCirq's recommendation for Hôtel le Donjon. Good location, nice breakfast too the last time I was there.

Have you considered one of the very many excellent chambre d'hôtes as an alternative to a hotel ? I can fully recommend Carcassonne Guesthouse which has an unrivalled view of la cité from its terrace. There is ample free parking outside too. From its position it is easily accessible to both the castle itself and the lower walled city of Carcassonne known as the bastide.
