Hotel in Brussels

We will be in Brussels for the night and was wondering if someone could recommend a place to stay?

Michael

We liked the Conrad Hilton in Brussels. It's expensive! The hotel is lovely, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. And some of the largest rooms we've seen in Europe.

Avoid the Crowne Plaza. In our opinion, it was one of the worst hotels we've seen in Europe. Older property. Renovations done cheaply. Front desk staff couldn't have been bothered.

What is your price range? My favorite hotel is Le Dixseptieme (www.ledixseptieme.be/), a boutique hotel in the center and about two short blocks from the train station. I recently previewed some other hotels in the center for a conference. If you can afford it, Hotel Amigo has undergone renovations and its rooms are absolutely gorgeous. Le Meredien is very conveniently located across from the train station and is upscale business class. The SAS Radisson is more like an American style conference hotel, but it's rooms are nice (they alternate floors that are either Scandanavian or Asian inspired in design), and they also boast a large privately owned gym and a Michelin-rated restaurant.
Sorry, of course, that should be "its rooms." Ugh.

We stayed at the Metropole several times and loved it. The location is superb, the outdoor/indoor cafe-bar is terrific and memorable. Convenient to the Plaza, and the restaurant row, plus downtown sites. It may seem oldworldish in the lobby, but very European.
