Hotel in Berlin- suggestions please?
We area group of 10 looking for 10 rooms in a mediumish central hotel for one night next week. Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
I've tracked down everything recommended in the first 100 Berlin posts. Some are full, and I've got 3 to look into, but more recommendations would be good |
What kind of price range?
|
Say, €100-200 per person per night
|
If you haven't already tried these:
Try the Hotel Bleibtru which has a nice courtyard and is near the Ku. Also try the Dorint Sofitel am Gengarmenmarkt in Mitte. I've stayed in the Courtyard by Marriott in Mitte and enjoyed it. Good luck. |
Who knows if a good rate will be available next week, but often good rates are available at the pleasant and modern Mercure Berlin an der Charité. I'd check Accor Hotels in any event.

EUR 100 - EUR 200 a night per person should buy you pretty good hotel rooms in Berlin.
At the upper end of that range, you might find availability at: 1. Berlin Marriott. Fine hotel, still pretty new, hardly any wear in the rooms, great Revive beds, small pool in the basement. Location directly on Potsdamer Platz, 15 min. stroll from Reichstag, 10 min. stroll from Brandenburg Gate, 20 min. stroll from Gendarmenmarkt, atop the Potsdamer Platz station. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...arriott-hotel/ 2. Radisson SAS. About same age as Marriott (i.e. approx. 5 years old), also still in very good shape. More modern in design. Beds a bit harder than at the Marriott. Also small pool in a slightly nicer designed spa area in the basement. Location directly behind Museum Island, TXL bus to TXL airport stops in front of hotel, 15 min. stroll to Gendarmenmarkt, 5 min. to Hackesche Hoefe, 7 min. stroll from Alexander Platz. http://www.berlin.radissonsas.com/ 3. Melia Rather newish hotel on Friedrichstr. in Mitte (about 1.5 years old). 7 min. stroll to Gendarmenmarkt, Friedrichstr. station across the street, Brandenburg Gate 7 min. stroll. Haven't stayed there, but in general gets decent and better feedback from people I know have stayed there. http://www.meliaberlin.com/en/index.html Towards the lower end of the range, I'd look at: 1. Arcotel Velvet On Oranienburger Str., modern design, Lutter&Wegner Austrian restaurant outfit on ground floor. 15 min. stroll to Unter den Linden/Brandnburg Gate. http://cc.arcotel.at/document.asp?id=1249 2. Bleibtreu In West Berlin, nice side-street off Ku'damm. One of the first design hotels, a bit Ikea-ish not as new as other places anymore, but fine for what it is. 7 minute stroll to Gedaechtniskirche, 10 min. stroll to KaDeWe department store. http://www.bleibtreu.com/default.aspx?lang=en 3. Park Plaza Wallstreet. Located in a bit of a quiet area east of Unter den Linden in Mitte on Wallstrasse (tranlates to Wall St.). Fairly new hotel in older building that a friend once mentioned favourably for that end of the range of a hotel. Management by Rezidor (the RadissonSAS parent) should ensure decent quality. Picks up a design theme around Wall St. http://www.parkplaza.com/berlinde_wallstrasse 4. Ku'damm 101 At the far Western end of Ku'damm in West Berlin, where it is a bit bland. Fairly new (5 years approx.) design hotel offering quite good value for money. Would not be my first choice among the ones mentioned, though. http://www.kudamm101.com/default.aspx?lang=en |
We stayed in the Arcotel Velvet (recommended above) and enjoyed the hotel and location very much. It should be under 120 euro for a room.

Thanks all. I ended up phoning Hotel Q and, contrary to their web site, they had availability. So we've almost booked there.
