Hotel in Amsterdam for young people
My son and daughter in their 20's will be on their own for 2 nights in Amsterdam. Any suggestions on good locations and reasonably priced places to stay?

For young people I would recommend hostels. They are always the best price and designed for a younger crowd. My god daughter stayed in hostels all over Europe over the course of three months traveling alone. She said she met wonderful people and felt safer than if she had stayed in hotels.

You can check Budget Trianon Hotel that offers both private rooms for 1, 2 or 3 and dormitory system. I stayed in there a month ago. The breakfast is not bad and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The rooms are small but clean with affordable prices.
There is a big supermarket accross the street and a nice park. It is also close to Van Gogh Museum.
The hotel is 15-minute away by walking and 5-minute away by tramway to the centre (Dam Square)
Hope, these work for your children

The Shleter is a Salvation Army hostel I believe - and may have a curfew - anathema in Amsterdam - I'd check out what Let's Go Europe has to say as they critique dozens and dozens of hostels and youth hotels. Most have pubs on the premises.
The Flying Pig's two hostels - uptown and downtown are always good options - the one adjoining Vondel Park is in a quiet part of town - the downtown one is right in the thick of things.
Hostelword is a good resource: http://www.hostelworld.com is good reliable source IME.

And there are two official hostels - one right near the red-light district on Klovniersburgwal and the other adjoining the Fly Pig at Vondel Park - https://www.hihostels.com/?linkid=98...FQeBaQodIE4Epw
HI hostels once were the only hostels in Europe but now there are zillions of others - public and private and youth hotels - many now have private rooms instead of the former mass dorms with dozens of beds in them (there are still some of these dumps around!) - started in Germany and expanded under the Third Reich the military penchant once true in most has given way to a muchmore frieindly consumer-oriented operation - probably due to the competition of so many alternative hostels and youth hotels.
HI hostels demand a membership fee or temporary one to use them - get that at the place.
