Hotel/Hostel Recommendations
 

Hello,
My boyfriend and I (both 25 years old) are looking for a place to stay in Paris in early September. We want to find somewhere relatively cheap, as we are traveling all over Europe for the month.
Any good suggestions for a hotel/hostel that is close to transportation if we want to get around, a few fun bars/restaurants, and maybe close to a unique attraction?
Anything helps, thank you!

What's your price range? What's "relatively cheap"?

It sounds like you might be a good candidate for Airbnb. Apartments there are under legal scrutiny but I don't think rooms with the occupant in residence are. I'm sure you could get more for your money and a nicer room through the site than at a hostel.

I meant, rooms in apartments with the owners/renters also in residence, not sharing a room. A "private room" as they're referred to on the site.

Hosteling International is an organization of hostels that are generally well regarded. II would look at that and also at the Let's Go Student guides - which have a lot of info on budget accommodation.

And it would help for us to know your nightly budget.

HI hostels aren't that great in Paris, they aren't in great locations and don't generally get good reviews. But you can check reviews better on a hostel website just devoted to that (even HI's own website gives reviews). Here are a few in Paris that are well-located and I think fairly decent

There are some cheap hotels that might be a better deal for you, depending what you want to spend. HEre are a couple

All of those are about dead center but the last one, but it's in a pleasant area and very near a metro stop. Of course you can save if you choose rooms without private bathrooms in some of those (like the Port Royal and Commerce).

September is arguably the busiest time in Paris; cheap accommodations book up fast.

Without knowing a specific budget, the Hotel des Artes on the r. Geoffroy Cavignac in the 11th is an excellent choice. I have friends who stayed there an they reported it was clean and suited them fine.

I pulled up a four-day stay on arbitrary dates in September, and saw availability at €84 per night. This may or may not fit into your budget, as you haven't stated one.

It's near the bars on the r. de Lappe, which are lively and fun for meeting people from all over.

There are any number of fine restaurants within an easy walk. I love this neighborhood, and think you would too.

That's a good choice, I didn't know that hotel (I think it is Hotel des Arts), it's a good location. Probably a lot easier in the first part of the month when things aren't quite in full swing yet in Paris, than towards the end, at least.

Try hotel Ramey on rue Ramey.
18e. Close to Montmartre.
I paid 70€, and it was nice. Recently refurbished, big rooms for Paris and possibility of cooking.
Pay attention that some rooms don't have toilet included, perso, it is a no go for me.
