Hotel Heritage in Bruges help with choice, please.

We are spending just one night in Bruges. Is it important to stay in any particular area and what do you think of this hotel? We noticed it has a special of 122 euro a night, and that is within our range. Any other hotels of charm we should consider? Thank you.

Any thoughts on 11 B and B, or a small hotel with website sintik.be? Both get some good comments.Thanks.

I posted on another Bruges thread a while ago to recommend the 'Hotel De Barge' - which is, as you may have guessed, a converted barge.

Lovely cabins - a fair size considering you're on a boat, all ensuite. Restaurant serving local specialities and a bar. Friendly staff all speaking impeccable English.

Location - not the most picturesque, being on one of the outer canals, near a ring road, but still only a 5-10 minute walk from the town centre, 10 mins from the station - and I think the fun of being afloat makes up for not being in the medieval enclaves.

Central Bruges is not exactly massive and is quite 'upmarket', so I doubt that there are any really 'bad' areas that would put you out of reach of the major attractions or where you would feel unsafe.

You can book through Expedia, Last Minute etc if there is no 'local' availability.

Essentially, any place within a 5-7 minute walk from the main square is fine location-wise.

We were there for almost 2 days. bruges has to be the most beautiful small city anywhere.

On our 2nd day we rented bikes and round around the outskirts of town stopping at the windmills.

I don't know the hotel but the location can't be beat anyway. It's 200 m or a 2 min. walk to the Market Square. Here's a city map for your easy reference http://www.brugge.be/internet/nl/con...e2006small.pdf (the Heritage is in case E8)

years ago we stayed here- www.ducdebourgogne.be - fabulous situation and great restaurant, and only a bit outside your budget.

Even if you stay elsewhere, do try and eat here - it was wnderful. economise the rest of tehtime by eating moules-frites!
