Florence car rental drop off best location?

Is it advisable to drop off a rental car in Florence? Is it crazy to drive in the city?
Which would be the easiest location to drop off a rental car? Florence Downtown office (Borgognissanti) or Florence City office
(Gelsomin or Forlanini)?

We just got back and had no trouble getting into or out of the city with our rental car. Before leaving for Italy, I mapped out the way with arrows on our detailed Florence street map. (I used either Mappy or Michelin to determine the route...can't remember which.) It was a piece of cake.

we rented from hertz near the train station in florence. as we were staying on via faenza (?), it was a 5 minute walk at most. I would recommend a 'never lost' navigation system - we used it to get in and out of florence. Don't know how long it would have taken us otherwise! also used it thru tuscany.

Does the navigation system come with the car or do you bring it from the US?
