Hotel help in Vienna
Hi there,
My fiance and I will be spending our honeymoon in Vienna (this January) and we're currently deciding which hotel to stay in. Since it's our honeymoon we'd like to splurge a little, so at the moment we're looking at the Sacher, Bristol, and Le Meridien. I've read really good things about the Grand on this forum, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find as great of a deal there. Does anyone have any thoughts on these three hotels? Any information on the rooms, the service, the restaurants, the gyms, or anything at all would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help! |
Its your honeymoon...go to:
http://www.kvu.at/e/starte.html Right in city center and full of the best Austrian hospitality. |
All you mentioned are nice, but the best is the Imperial. The restaurant (s) are superb (the cafe for breakfast and lunch are great and offer the famous Vienna (Wiener) sausage that is the basis of our US hot dog without the bad ingredients.
The restaurant is elegan, delicious and intimate ..not THAT expensive for what it offers. For lunch, we loved Steirereck in Stadpark for the fantastic offerings and wonderful decor (the restrooms are museum quality!) |
A very good friend was married at the Imperial so they probably have a nice honeymoon suite and/or package. And, if you or friend or family has Sheraton/Starwood points you may be able to use them for part of your stay. Many years ago my husband and I used Sheraton points. I've heard wonderful things about the Bristol and Le Meridien hotels always seem lovely.
Congratulations! |
Delor, the Imperial is no longer the best in town....it's now the Palais Coburg. I stayed at the Imperial once, but overall, I liked my stay at the Grand better.
The Imperial has some wonderful suites. At a recent convention, one of the organization's top dog pitched a fit, however, because his Imperial suite was a few square feet smaller than promised. Obviously not a Rick Steves traveler ;-) |
