Hotel Galleria in Venice

Anyone stayed here? It sounds wonderful, but the low price and 1star rating make me wonder. Comments, anyone? Thanks.

We (two couples) stayed there last fall. It is a very nice place. We each had a small double with a bath. Very clean but small rooms. The rooms were only about 6' wide but very long with a window overlooking the grand canal. Breakfast was good, in the room watching the traffic on the canal. They did have a few larger rooms but who spends that much time in the room in Venice. You could see sun rise over the canal near san marco from the window. Right by accademia bridge so very convenient for walking and luggage. Staff was very nice and helpful. The pizzaria next to the hotel was also very good, outdoors with the grande canal. Have a great trip. If you are driving, they will give you a discount coupon for parking in Tronchetto.

Forgot to mention, the "bath" was a WC and shower!

for readers of WHAT book? Cheap Sleeps?
David Apr 27th, 2000 11:16 AM

Elaine, Don't worry you'll probably be hearing about *her* book very soon:-)!
Elaine,
Got the culprit! Not Sandra Gufstafson of "Cheap Sleeps" but instead Margo Classe of "Hello... (fill in your country) and Insider's Guide to Hotels from $40-80 a Night for Two". We're so fortunate 'cause today she's been giving away tidbits from her books all over the Forum-seen her do the same at Frommers. If she keeps it up, we won't ever have to buy one! Thanks for your generosity, Margo!

Topper-Actually I've been waiting for the sales pitch that usually began her posts on Frommers. "You may want to check out my book on affordable hotels in Italy". And the post ended with her website and the cost of her book.
