Hotel for last night in Lisbon
We have one more room to book for our trip to Portugal. ( all the rest done thanks to your help!)
At the end of our trip we will fly back to Lisbon from Funchal, arriving in Lisbon around 3:30. We will have stayed in Chiado area for 5 nights at the beginning of our trip, so we would like a different area. I don't want a sterile Airport Hotel, but a hotel that will remind us that we are in Portugal! Would love to hear about some of your favorites. |
If you are looking for a "grand finale", Hotel da Lapa is the place.
I'd suggest Avenida Palace, but it's fairly close to Chiado and I understand you are looking for a different district. |
Wow, that would be a grand finale! What a lovely place.
Nothing that dramatic for our last night, but I have been thinking of staying near the water, or a great terrace or balcony view from the city or of the city. Since my sister-in-law will be with us we will need 2 rooms (unless there is a suite available) I was thinking $300-$350 for all 3 of us. Don't need a pool or spa, walking distance of nice restaurants. |
Hotel Altis Belem. It's a place of historical significance since Columbus stopped in that very spot (maintenance purposes) before heading to Seville (Spain) returning from his 1st travel to the Americas.
|
Belem is very nice spot, but it does not have any of fLisbon" feel".
plus ,it is a way out of town. There are several big hotels near Eduardo VII park , but they are just " big hotels" . |
I would recommend the Hotel Lapa Palace (www.olissippohotels.com) for somewhere special, with style and class. It is not within easy walking distance of the Chiado, but they can always call you a taxi.

Depending on when you'll be here in Lisboa... Slated to open sometime in 2015 is a new Pousada in Terreiro do Paço. Can't beat that for historic, central location, right on the river!
|
Maybe Janelas Verdes http://www.asjanelasverdes.com It's right next to the Arte Antiga museum.
Or how about the Pousada at the palace in Queluz? No view of the water, but a nice place. http://www.pousadas.pt/historic-hote...ages/home.aspx It was recently renovated, I believe. |
