Hotel for 4 in Rome

We will be in Rome for only three nights the end of July and would like a recommendaton for a reasonably priced hotel or b & b to accommodate 2 adults and two children. I will look for an apartment but am not certain they will rent for three nights.

WHat is your price range? We stayed in a quad at the Santa Chiara. It's in a great location (behind the pantheon), and includes a very good breakfast buffet. The room was a decent size (2 room suite with 1 bathroom). My only warning, from what I've read, is that the A/C is unreliable at night (we were there in March, so no A/C).

I just want to add, when searching for a quad room, email or call hotels directly and ask. Many do not even mention them on their website or booking sites because they may only have 1 or 2. Sometimes they squeeze an extra bed in a triple, sometimes it's 2 connected rooms or a suite, and sometimes it's just 1 large room designed for 4. We've been in all types in Europe.

Most of the major apartment renters will rent for 3 nights - try the slowtravel website for a list of the best.

Thanks for the suggestion. I believe I have found one near the Pantheon with air for 210 euros. There were others for less but not with air and 2 bedrooms. Any other considerations I should be looking for?

HI MFNYC--we stayed at the Santa Chiara in early June of 2000 and it was very hot!! At that time the AC in our room was as good as any I have used anywhere...Clearly I cannot know if that has changed in the interim, but it was great then.

MJ..may I suggest our new favorite in Rome..The Moidiglini. Stayed there last year and that is exactly where we will stay on future visits, too.
Lovely boutique hotel, nondescript entrance on very quiet little street, Via Purificacion..yet only five minutes from Spanish Steps and two blocks from both Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini...comfortable walk to Trevi, Pantheon, Navona and Campo Fiori. The rates for summer I'm not familkiar with...but in April we paid 175 E's, including a full breakfast. Owned by a TV writer and doctor wife. Very friendly and helpful staff. Elevator...only about 18 rooms. Tranquil inner garden.

Thanks, I couldn't find a quad at the santa chiara, unless they have a direct website, and I have e-mailed hotel modi.... The apartments I have found only have partial air conditioning, but they say they stay cool. What do you think? It will be july!

Try Domus Julia, the apartment annex to Hotel Julia. We stayed there recently in a twin room, but they also have bigger suites for families. Reasonably priced at 170EUR, a double with breakfast. It's near the Spanish Steps, same street as the Barberini Palace, a good location. You can find my trip report if you click on my name above, or I'll post it here if you'd like. It includes details on restaurants and activities in Rome. Have fun planning.
