Hotel Esbelli Evi, Urgup, Turkey any reports

Has anyone stayed at this place, I would be interested in any information

If you type Esbelli Evi into the search function and click for Turkey, I'm sure you'll find numerous threads. This is the place I first heard about it, and then went to their own site and booked it. It is a wonderful place. We arrived early in the day and they gave us a choice of wonderful "cave" rooms -- we took a huge one that even had an antique baby crib in a special area -- and no, we didn't have a baby with us!
The staff is wonderful and will help plan your day. Each afternoon we all returned to Esbelli Evi and sat on the terrace as they pulled wine out of the cellar and different guests would bring snacks they purchased that day and we'd all compare stories.

That's where we were talking one day when another guest mentioned something about their planned hotel in Istanbul and I said I had posted on Fodor's a recommendation to avoid it. She looked at me and said, "oh, you're THAT Patrick!"

We stayed at the Esbelli Evi in 1999 and loved it! The rooms are so cool--you really feel a part of the Cappadocia atmosphere. In addition to the main terrace, outside each room is a stock "balcony" that looks out to the countryside. Breakfast was also served outside on one of these balconies with sweeping views & it was amazing--fresh yogurt with homemade preserves. We loved the experience.

Hi Marko;

Esbelli is the oldest within the Cave Hotel concept and had a long way to acomplish the success. Its cosy and friendly place with entellectuel owner.

Yunak is more modern and luxuary end of the case. I know both places very well and both would be appreciated. since I am on the same boat like them constructing the newest cave hotel in Cappadocia I wont name which one is better to stay but both fine depending on the which angle you look at.

Have a great time in Cappadocia and who knows we may bump to each other :-)) when are you coming here ?

April 2004, just booked the air fares.
How is Turkish airlines these days ?

sinan Jun 7th, 2003 04:50 AM

Hi Marko,

If you are going to Turkey from USA they are the number one.

In Turkey there is only Turkish Airline on the air, Yes I think there is one more but you just hear and see their name at a few airport not service.

Marko'

Last fall I stayed in the smaller, but wonderful Elkep Evi, which also has a web site http://www.elkepevi.com/

Absolutely the highlight of my Turkey trip.
Good luck!

Marko Jun 10th, 2003 02:13 AM

I had a look at the site, there must be a lot of really super places in the area. I can't wait. I currently have three days scheduled there...should I organise one more ?

sinan Jun 10th, 2003 06:06 AM

Marko,

Cappadocia is big places if you want to see the whole area you have to spend a week. So this time you can spend as much as you do then I am sure you will go back to Turkey and you can see the other part of Cappadocia. First time 3 or 4 days is enough because you also visit the other area but if you have time YES YOU CAN ADD ONE MORE DAY IN CAPPADOCIA.

Marko,

Just one more consideration: The area is ideal for hiking. You could spend an entire day just roaming the countryside

propertravel Jun 11th, 2003 12:06 PM

Yes Marko Add another day to Cappadocia :-)
