Hotel Due Torri and FOOD

Another questin for our trip to Rome on Saturday. We are staying at Hotel Due Torri as per this board's recomendation. But, I don't know if they serve breakfast. Nothing on their website says yay or nay, but I notice a picture of a small dining room. Has anyone stayed there lately? Also, if you have stayed there have you been able to get restaurant rec's from the staff? THANKS!

Hi Gen

When we were at the Due Torri in October 2001, they served a bounteous buffet breakfast in that little breakfast room you see on the site. All sorts of goodies were available: soft boiled eggs, cereals, breads and pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt and even chocolate candy! You could have your choice of coffees too; the capuccino was delicious. I'm assuming the hotel still serves breakfast. You could e-mail them if you need to know for sure.

We didn't ask for restaurant recs, so I can't answer that part of your question.

Buon viaggio

We just returned from Rome on October 26 and stayed at the Hotel Due Torri. Yes, they serve a very nice breakfast(for Italy). Cereal, yogurt, fruit pastries - very good croisants, soft boiled eggs. Cappucino, juices and they even had American coffee for my mom.

The staff is very helpful, if you ask. They gave us several restaurant recs in the neighborhood.

Have fun!!
For a restaurant nearby, try L'Orso 80 around the corner on Via Portoghesi. Their antipasto is incredible -- about a dozen different dishes will be brought to you. I dream about this place when I'm home!
Also next door the other way is a convent that serves dinner nightly, inexpensive and very good, including wine. Fraterna Domus.
