What a feast Cova!! I gained 2 pounds just reading the menu..
We are going to have a nice dinner at my niece house, she lives in Paris and she is a fairly good cook.
Normally from the time that we reach Paris after spending a month of more in Europe, our moneys is almost gone, so I rely on the relatives to enjoy good food..

Cova, I love their beet and mache salad! And I had the Paris-Brest, also. Yum!

I didn't know the reservation could be made online; thanks for the heads up!

Hi Kismet,
it was even worse than it sounds, because to me, their portions were HUGE
At least I donīt have anything special planned in at least a month, so Iīll have time to get back to normal (and double sessions at the gym do help a little bit ...).
Grandmere, I remember to have read some thread mentioning reservethebest.com and saying that they hadnīt been able to book online because of some problems on the english side with the date. The french side worked perfectly, and they answered me in english.

Cova, did you see the new negative review of du Lys on Trip Advisor; jpf drew my attention to it yesterday. It happens, I guess.

Yes, another one, Kismetchimera!

All I can continue to say is that cleanliness was never an issue when I or my "refer-ees" were there. I sure hope your and jpf's experiences are good.

Out of curiousity I went to tripadv. and read the comments about the du Lys. I did not realized how many people were disatisfied with this hotel..
I truly dont know what to believe..

Hi all,

I have been down with the flu, and didnīt check anything until this morning. Sorry

Kismetchimera, I was only there for a weekend (my friend stayed there two more nights), and I was certainly happy with the cleanliness, price and situation of the hotel. I donīt think I would stay there in summer (no AC, and the two latest summer in Europe have been a bit on the hot side ...) or for a longer period (I like to have a small fridge to leave things in there). But for a short weekend, yes, I liked it.

Rgds, Covadonga

Kismetchimera: We (husband, son & I) stayed at the du Lys April 8-12 in a triple, room 8, on what we would call the second floor. Two twins were pushed together in the middle of the room with a single bed against the wall opposite the windows. Two windows faced the street and were closed most nights. With the exception of a neighbor slamming a door late one night, we heard no noise in the morning or at night. When the windows were left open through the night there was very little street noise.

As far as cleanliness, the room and bathroom were clean although the bedspread and carpet had some stains. The bathroom is small, looks newly renovated and has a nice sink and powerful shower. The problem is there is no ventilation which caused some rather ugly black grout in the shower. The shower was clean but the grout needs to be bleached.

We loved the location and having breakfast in their quaint lobby. The hotel staff was cordial as were the other guests we saw at breakfast. We'd stay there again.

The room charge, which included breakfast, was €130 for the triple and an additional €7 for (maybe 7) phone calls.

Thank You very much jpf for your prompt update of the Lys..
However, we decided to spend an extra day in Paris and made the reservations for 3 night at the Hotel Grandes Ecoles.
