Hotel du Louvre/ California Hotel Paris
Any detailed information on the Hotel du Louvre or California hotel in Paris would be greatly appreciated. I would like to find out about the accomadations, restaurants, service, and surrounding areas. We are going to Paris (and then london) for our honeymoon in late April. Thank you.

Stayed in the Hotel California on Rue de Berri, probably three years ago. Rue de Berri intersects with Champs d'Elysse, relatively near the Arc de Triumph. The hotel is a couple of blocks off Champs d'Elysse. As I recall, the hotel probably is 4-star rated. Rooms are relatively small, but certainly adequate and clean. Restaurant was OK for breakfast -- didn't eat other meals there -- lots of places to eat within easy walking. Nothing particularly memorable about the place -- either good or bad. I would not hesitate to stay there again, but neither would I go out of my way to do so. Metro stations and bus stops are an easy walk from the hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel du Louvre in July, 1997 and liked it a lot. Location is very good (across the street from the Louvre and within a few minutes walk of Ile de la Cite with Notre Dame and Ste. Chapelle. Rooms are quite modern. Restaurant is very good and they have a lovely bar. Concierge is helpful and staff (not the chambermaids, tho) speak English. If yo have any specifi questions, let me know. Dick

Hi David: We also stayed at the Hotel du Lourve in Oct 97 and were very pleased. The location is about as good as any in Paris. We walked everywhere, except of course to Versailles. Their restaurant (brasserie) is great and their "Defender Bar" is outstanding!!! One of the truly nice places to have a cocktail!!! Don't miss it. We also found a great restaurant nearby. Drop me a line if you're interested. We would definietly stay there again. Enjoy your trip....Paul J
