Hotel du College

I was just informed that HDC is fully booked. Would appreciate it if someone can recommend a hotel within the same area and rate (about E110 for 2 persons) on 5th with easy access to metros, RERs, etc.. Thank you.

What about Hotel Familia on the Rue des Ecoles? It is close to Maubert-Mutuality Metro.

It is too bad about Hotel College de France. My husband and I stayed there and loved the staff.

The Hotel St Jacques might be a good bet as its rates are very reasonable and it's close (you can get a room for 125 euro if you stay 3 nights). Also, the 2* Home Latin hotel is very near the College de France and even a little cheaper. http://www.hotelhomelatinparis.com/

YOu don't say when you are going when can affect rates a lot. If it is in the near future, rates will be peak season rate, of course, you can't get around that. That rate is very low so I think you'll have to find a 2* hotel, most likely.

I stayed in the Jardin de Cluny once, which is about a block away, and it's okay, but a 3* hotel and their regular rates are much higher, but you can check their website to see if any special deals turn up. The 2* Hotel de Suez isn't too far away, on bd St Michel. It's definitely in your price range. I seem to recall some positive reviews of it on here. http://www.hoteldesuezparis.com/

Thanks Tears and Christina. HDC did recommend Home Latin but TA does not have a good review of the place most esp. the staff. We'll be going mid-Oct. (totally unplanned just for 6 days but hey, I'll take Paris anytime). I'll try Hotel St. Jacques and Hotel de Suez.

If I were you, I would keep trying to get a room at HCF - or whereever else you might want to stay that was, when you tried, booked. If they have a liberal cancellation policy, there is always a chance something will open up at any time. I initially tried to get a room at the HCF and was told they were full. I tried again a day or two later and got one.
And, actually, I just cancelled it the other day when my plans changed. I think this probably happends a lot so keep trying. You've nothing to lose but a little time.
