HOTEL DU CHAMP DE MARS? PARIS
 

hi everyone - i'm close to booking this hotel in paris for me and my 60 year old mother for 5 nights. Is it nice? Are their reasonable restaurants nearby for dinner, Mammy will be tired by dinner time! I would really appreciate your advice on de Champs de Mars Hotel. Elaine - Dublin, Ireland.

Elaine - I did a text search on Hotel Du Champ De Mars and came up with 66 replies. I would recommend you do the same and read them.

We stayed there and the rooms are small but done very well. However, I've heard of people who had problems with the hotel not honoring their reservation. We were booked for 4 nights and a return of 1 additional night. The 4 nights went fine, but when we returned for the last single night, they did not have a room and had booked us into another hotel a few blocks away that was not nearly so nice. Marilyn

Have stayed there twice with no problems whatsoever; once in July and once on October; both busy months. One trip was split and our room was waiting for us as promised. The location is great; 5 min. from the Metro Ecole Militaire, nearby post office, street market at your door, fabulous patisserie(Il Fournil)at the corner, Davoli for cold cuts, Marie Cantin for cheeses, 2 small supermarches and the Cafe du Marche right across the street. The rooms are very pretty and everything is clean and well-kept. My son and I are already booked for a June trip. Another hotel nearby is Hotel Muguet which is well thought of as well; just a tad pricier. My son and I are paying 78 Euros/night. They do have a breakfast room but we just usually go to the nearby fruit and veggie stands and buy oranges, bananas, and pick up croissants to munch in the room. You're about 10min from the Eiffel Tower, 10 min from Invalides, and 20-30 min from the Champs d'Elysees but lots to look at as you walk. Lots of restaurants in the are and we always felt very safe.

Linda laid it pretty well. Nice comfortable feel to the area. Rooms are small, but its clean and a good value for the money.

What is this about your mother being 60 and being tired at night? Perhaps you underestimate her; I hope my kids aren't hunting restaurants next to my hotel for me until I'm heck of a lot older than this!

After walking all over Paris sightseeing and museum seeing, anyone is tired - age 60 or younger! It's always nice to have places to eat near the hotel.
