Hotel de Blois in the 15e in Paris

We will be staying there for 11 days come Friday. Has anyone else stayed there? We aren't fussy travellers, we just like it to be clean and the bed reasonably comfortable. They do have English language TV so my husband is relieved.

Any comments?

What's the address on that? I know of a 1* Hotel de Blois in the 14th and a 3* Hotel du Bois in the 16th, but no Hotel de Blois in the 15th.

Hotel de Blois is in the 14th arrondissement. It appears to be a decent 1* hotel - added a website a couple of years ago.

You will have no problems finding nice local restaurants and cafes... there's an award-winning boulangerie at 105 rue Vercingétorix... small park just the other side of avenue du Maine...rue Daguerre market street (at the east end).

Your nearest metro might be Alesia, line 4, which goes up through Montparnasse, St Germain, Cite, les Halles and Gare du Nord.. (Mouton Duvernet is still being renovated so it's closed right now). The buses are also good for getting around.

There are two recent reviews on Tripadvisor.

It would seem it is in the 14e.

Haven't stayed, but can I ask why you chose it?

For my taste, it seems to be bit far from the center, so you will need to metro it everywhere. But you will see a non touristy neighbourhood.

That being said, you are close to the RER station to CDG, and it would be 3 RER stops to Notre Dame, 7 M stops to St Germain, 10 M stops with trasnfer to Champs Elysee.

Go to this webpage:

www.pagesjaunes.fr

and enter under 'Localite' Paris 14 and under 'Adresse' 5 rue des plantes. Enter that, then select 'Photo' down below (orange letters). There is no photo directly of your hotel, but if you use the arrow keys to manoeuvre around, you can see your neighbourhood.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Sorry, it's in the 14e - brain off course today.

Michel, we chose it even though it is a bit far from centre simply because it definitely is less expensive and we plan on taking the Metro a lot. As you say, it is a less touristy neighbourhood, so that should be nice.

I have read the TripAdvisor reviews & also Travel Library - I was just wondering if anyone here had read the reviews.

Travelnut, thanks for the info about the boulangerie.

It's really not so far off the beaten track. You're close to three Métro lines -- 4, 6, and 13, and to Avenue de Maine, which goes into Montparnasse. And as previously noted, you will be in a "real" neighborhood.
