Hotel de Blauvac in Avignon

Our family of 4 will stay there 2 nights in April. We have the "largest room" which has a loft with 2 twins in it for our 2 teens. I've read mixed reviews on it and wonder if anyone's stayed recently. It's been recommended in <frommers> (oops I know this is Fodors!) I believe. The price is pretty decent... 88 euros per night and 6 euros for breakfast. Any comments?

I have stayed at the Blauvac several times. It is pretty basic. Some of my friends have found it dowdy, but it works for me. The staff is pleasant. The hotel is comprised of two old houses held together by an expansive open stairway with seating areas that I think is quite charming. No lift, but the stairs are fairly easy to manage. No view, but a very good location. I prefer the patisserie/café across the street for breakfast. The loft is a good idea for four people. It gives a bit of distance. Enjoy Avignon.

I agree, it is basic but I also thought the rooms to be pretty spacious! I liked the staff; they were all really nice and spoke English very well. We also opted to take breakfast elsewhere--which was good because the bakery windows were full of mouth-watering displays. Have fun, I'm so jealous!

I think it seems like a good hotel for our purposes. I'm becoming a bit concerned with the political climate but I'll just ride it out and see what happens. We're not going until April. Any good restaurants you might want to tell me about? Thanks y'all!(Kanoneli, from Atlanta!)

My absolute fave there is L'Epicierie. It is a casual restaurant with fresh ingredients from the region. Go early to get a table if you do not have reservations.
