Sigh....I would love to stay at the Crillon. Or know someone who has. Pariswoman, I am really jealous - happy anniversary.

I have actually stayed at the Crillon twice, the last time in 1999. My sister, Jennifer, stayed in a suite for 14 days for her honeymoon. The hotel bill was $35,000.

My dear friend, the Countess de Billy, had made a comment that the service has changed at the hotel recently when her daughter (Christina, an editor at French Vogue) put up client there. The service, I was told, was more "American," meaning that it was more "smiley-smiley" and "friendly" than formal and reserved. I HATE staff who try to be your best friend. EWWWW! GET AWAY! It is still luxurious, however, sweetie darling.

Have fun in Paris. Ignore Cimbrone as he is a low-rent Mary.

I'm not sure I agree with the wanting to know someone who had part given the earlier parts of this thread.

I suspect someone could characterize it as a bunch of pots denying their own shades of periodic blackness abilities.

As I recommended on another thread, the Luxury Hotels forum at FlyerTalk has at least several people who remain <i>au courant</i> with all aspects of the Paris luxury hotel scene, and can probably comment on the Crillon changes.

Given the Starwood angle, the original poster might also want to check out the Starwood forum on FlyerTalk and post an inquiry there.

I should think that that is just where one would be most concerned about maintenance of standards.

If your 150E/nite hotel doesn't live up to expectations, you've lost a little.

Let me tell you and the sad, pathetic world you live in that rich people won't put up with snooty. The Duchess of Bedford is hardly going to allow a bellman to sneer. Americans on expense accounts paid for by their employers may put up with that behavior, but not the super-rich.
