hotel confirmation letter question

now that I have my confirmation letters
(finally!) for our hotels while in Italy
this May, is it necessary to reconfirm
prior to arrival, or should I just assume
all is well and take my letters with me?
I booked all of our hotels direct with
the hotels, with the exception of Venice,
which I booked on expedia.com, due to
a dramatic price difference.

It can't hurt to send them an e-mail to reconfirm a few weeks before your arrival.

agreed

I'd confirm again especially if you are arriving late in the afternoon/evening.

I agree. And I am a cautious type that re-confirm by e-mail, then a few days before by telephone(will tell them approximate arrival time.).

When I went to Spain I re-confirmed all of my hotel reservations. It never hurts to do so, and can avoid problems if a reservation has been lost.

I reconfirmed my Paris reservation last year and when I was looking back over the original request I sent, I noticed that I had booked it for the wrong days. So glad I was confirming or I would have arrived with my parents to a sold out hotel around Christmas.

Reconfirm.

I had changed the reservation to a month earlier, and had received a confirmation. I reconfiremed stateing the dates, month written so as not confuse the number style. I got a letter restating the dates and confirming them. At check in, I still had no room, they still had it down for the next month.
