Hotel Communications-A Positive Experience

How MANY times have we seen a post here about soneone's inability to communicate with a hotel (in Europe)?

It seems to follow the general pathway of "they never answered my e-mail..what should I do?"...(or).."is this normal?"...(or) "what would you do?".... (or) "how long should I wait?", etc., etc.

Yesterday I sent an e-mail to a hotel in Nurnberg (the Victoria) about possible accommodations in August 2010. I included, asIi usually do, my cellphone number.

Today, they actually CALLED me saying they are having trouble with the e-mail address I supplied (I gave them an alternative one) and that the person who would be knowledgeable about next year's rates won't be bacl in the office until early next week...would I mind waiting a few days for an offer?

I was pleasantly surprised by this communication and there is probably no way we will NOT use this hotel next year REGARDLESS of the rates involved.

Nice things DO happen....

I had this happen also when I was looking at hotels for our UK trip. The owners of the Ashcroft Guest House in Haltwhistle were on vacation in Los Angeles and phoned to tell me they would respond to my email request when they returned home in a few days! I was astounded as I also have had my share of hotels that NEVER respond to my email requests.
