Hotel Comfort Bastille

I returned from 4 days in Paris (Hotel Comfort Bastille) yesterday. I actually was a lot better than expected. I paid 165€ without breakfast for 4 days in a single room. Newly nenovated, very clean about 12 m2 in seize. The hotel is halfway between two métro stations Ledru-Rollin and Caronne. Both are about a 5-10min walk. Rooms do have A/C but it's rather anemic. (You don't need it in Paris anyway) ;-). The windows open, some noise from the street, but not too bad at all. One negative thing is, that you hear every word your neighbours say and do. Other than that I was visting all the usual places. Not much changed since the last time, which was quite a while ago.

Thanks for reporting back. I know I asked you to :). I've seen this hotel for a cheap price on various sites, so I'll definitely consider it for my next visit.

Sorry for sounding stupid but can you please clarfiy for me. Was the room 165 for the full 4 days (was it 4 nights) or was the 165 per night?
Thanks.

Yes, 165€ for the full 4 days (=4 nights), that's 41.25€ per night. The price was quite o.k.

Wow, great to know. Thanks.

Wow, that's a great deal. If you don't mind, what was the area around the hotel like during the day and at night (amount of people, cafes, etc)?

I've seen cheap rates for this hotel on these sites:
http://www.ratestogo.com (the very cheapest, but you can't book very far in advance)
http://www.hrs.de (usually very good cancellation terms)
http://www.hotelclub.com (related to ratestogo, but can be booked further out, usually at a less favorable price)

>area around the hotel
Many "typical" restaurants around (>10 between the 2 stations), one "ED" and a Monoprix supermarket at Ledru-Rollin plus a McD.., but not too many people at all in the area. Mix of native and immigrants. No problem at all finding a nice place to eat at 11pm. A very nice walk down rue de Charonne too. Instead of the métro I sometimes used Bus #76 to the Louvre, very convenient. From Ledru-Rollin station you'll have to change trains at la Bastille to Line 1, if you want to go downtown. Otoh from Charonne métro you can go to Trocadero without the need to change trains at all.

11pm. That should read 10pm :-)

logos999,
I plan on staying there in October.
Any floor or particuler rooms I should ask for. I have a double booked.
Any other information you have will be appreciated.

logos999,
One more question. Do they have non-smoking rooms?

logos999 Jul 6th, 2007 12:11 PM

The elevator is quite small, (only 2 people at the same time), but there wasn't a problem waiting, since I didn't get up very early like most others. I was on 4th floor. If others are noisy, you'll defintively hear it. Some American in the next room blew a fuse and electricity was off for about half an hour one evening. (Don't use 110V rated appliances unless you know what you're doing ;-) ) I don't know if they speak English at the reception, but I don't think it would be a problem. If you want to watch TV, there are about 7 french channels incl. Canal+ and CNN. Good hair dryer in the bathroom and a 110V shaver socket. When you use the shower, you need to be able to lift your foot to about the level of your other knee, so maybe a problem here for the elder? Anyway, everything looked very new!

Complete 4th floor was non smoking, no smell at all.

logos999,
Fantastic, thanks so much.
Any nice music clubs or cafes in the area?

logos999 Jul 6th, 2007 01:58 PM

Didn't have much time to explore any music clubs there, too many things to do elsewhere! Just walk from the hotel to Voltaire station and you'll find it's quite a nice neighborhood without (m)any tourists. You'll be able to actually have dinner without worrying too much about the cost.

logos999,
You have been so much help. I will be going in Oct. I might ask you some other advice.
Thank you,
Mike
