Good point by Dukey. That means for the Hilton, you only need to ride the shuttle twice between terminal and hotel. No need to shuttle for train rides to/from Paris.

And from my experience, I waited about 15 minutes for their shuttle from CDG2 to hotel at 10:15p on a Saturday night. No wait to get to the terminal next morning.

thanks for all the information so far. hotwire is advertising a price of $89 per night per room for a 4* which i assume is the hilton. That would bring the price difference to over $400.

I stayed at the Hilton one night, being comped from an airline for a flight cancellation. It was a great hotel, absolutely huge room with bathroom with both tub and shower, everything very comfortable. I did take a shuttle to the station, but that was partly because of the airline providing one, as many guests were there.

I've only seen the outside of the Sheraton, and know its location above the rail station. Yes, I suppose that is more convenient, especially if you want to take the RER to/from Paris. I'm not familiar with the other RER station, though, which is near the Hilton.

However, given how nice the Hilton was, I can't even comprehend paying $400 more to stay at the Sheraton!!! for one night? I don't even understand who would consider doing such a thing, that's insane. You could probably hire a private driver for the night for that amount.

I recently saw a post on the tripadvisor.com forum to the effect that it's quite a long walk from the Sheraton to the air terminal, for whatever that's worth.

Underhill - I wouldn't believe most things said on Tripadvisor. The Sheraton sits on top of the RER/TGV station. If one thinks that's far from the six CDG2 terminals, they shouldn't have gone to Paris.

The person who posted that message said that it was a long haul with the suitcases. What's the problem with the TripAdvisor site, other than some of the posters in the France forums? There are quite a few locals and people who travel frequently to France from Britain.

Problem is that the reviews are subjective, and we don't know what's the travel experience of those reviewers.

I also read and Tripadvisor reviews, but people need to read them extremely carefully.

As for Sheraton/CDG2 itself, I assume it'll be a longhaul for those who used to get out of the terminal and grab a cab to the hotel. It will not be a longhaul for those who will walk to the RER station and take a train to Paris, and then switch to Metro and finally walk to their hotel.

But isn't that true of posts in any travel forums?

Underhill - That's true, but here, we can ask the poster questions and look up old posts. There, you know hardly anything about the poster.

And again, use Sheraton as example, just what would one expect then? The Sheraton/RER/TGV sit right smack in the middle of CDG2. Where else can a hotel be placed that can be more convenient? 6 Sheratons at each of CDG2 ABCDE&F? Maybe they should have put moving sidewalks in the terminals, but there's so much stuff that can be improved at CDG2 they might as well tear the whole thing down and start over.

Why can't you do the same thing on the tripadvisor.com site? I've certainly posted questions. I will say, though, the the TA France forum has more than its share of nasty people.

Oh, you mean the forums on Tripadvisor. Sorry, I thought you just mean the reviews. I don't go to that forum, so I have no experience there. I only read and post on the specific hotel's reviews.

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard last week. It was a very short shuttle ride to Terminal 2. Extremely nice hotel - much nicer than any Courtyard I have ever seen. Paid 119 Euros which included a great buffet breakfast.

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in May 2005. It was nicer than the ones where I've stayed in Oregon, not cheap, but we were tired after a 3 week trip. Nice bar and breakfast.

What terminal will i arrive in on Delta?
will it be easy to get to the sheraton with luggage? or how do i get to the Hilton to wait for a friend coming in on NW airlines? is there a shuttle outside?

Delta arrives in terminal 2. The Sheraton is in terminal 2. Free luggage carts await you at baggage claim.

I've also stayed at the Marriott Courtyard several times, and been very pleased each time - it's extremely nice, with a decent restaurant and great breakfast. I didn't realize that you could walk to the village of Roissy from the hotel thru a park. Maybe I'll do that next time.

Yes, it could be a (relatively) long walk from the CDG Hilton to a flight departure hall in the same terminal, No. 2. Perhaps as much as 15 minutes for a fit person, depending on the departure hall. There are some moving walkways. There also are shuttle buses between the departure halls, though riding those with luggage, and the between-buses wait, lessens the desirability of that option for a person who can walk.

I am back from my trip and I can say that the Hilton was fantastic! At checkin I was given the option to upgrade to an executive room for an additional 60 Euros, which included breakfast and access to the executive lounge. A great upgrade.

The room was huge, the lounge was amazing, with drinks(including really good champagne) and snacks and a computer to surf the internet, and a Concorde on display right out the window.

I had dinner at the hotel, but would recommend against it if you get the upgrade, as they put out some pretty nice finger food in the evening at the lounge. The food at the restaurant was good but wasn't included in the upgrade. Breakfast buffet was pretty good.

The Hilton has a shuttle between the airport and the hotel. It was easy to get to the hotel and back to the airport. They dropped me off right out in front of the BA gates.

Very recommended.
