Hotel choices in Warsaw center?

We will need a hotel near Nowy Swiat/Tamka for 3 nights in early July. It looks like Le Meridien Bristol, Sofitel Victoria or Sheraton would have the best locations. At Meridien and Sheraton, they have rates of around E.120-130, including breakfast. We will be 2 adults and 1 child (10 yrs old) so we would like a decent size room.

Any preferences between the 3?

Bristol always been considered the best for Warsaw... Victoria although bit ugly from outside - it's very nice inside - great location and breakfest. Sheraton - no idea ... But you definitly can't go wrong with either Bristol or Victoria (although I would probably pick Victoria for possibly better value).

Marriott is rated best! Check for specials. Or inquire "Metropol" a Polish hotel.

Peter's comments are correct. Sheraton is slightly further away from downtown than other two, but at night it has far better bar which actually has an atmosphere and is frequented by expats and locals. Sofitel's atmosphere is akin to a morgue. Whenever I walked into the Bristol it was not too dissimilar. So if you like to have a drink at your hotel and generally have more of an atmosphere, I would go for the Sheraton. Otherwise Sofitel may be better value.
Marriott - location is horrible and would definitely not be my choice of the 4. Rated best, who by?

Do you want a USA type hotel? Or a Continental one? How about the Europa? Location? What venues are to be accessed? 4* hotels have reliable and inexpensive taxi services.

Most of the more expensive hotels in Warsaw 4* etc. have their own taxi service which is a most part a huge rip off and considerd to be a "mafia" cars... since they will chase away any other normal taxi service which in many instances costs 1/2 less away from area... It's so bad that Taxi drivers from normal companies will sometimes not meet you in front of the hotel... and ask if they could meet you just around the corner (had this happen to me few years back) - so definitly don't use those guys - ask and be specific with front desk that you want taxi service of your choice and if you have no clue who to use - use oldest in Poland and Warsaw MPT by calling 919 http://www.mpt.com.pl

Enjoy Warsaw!!!
