Hotel Choice in Rome
In Rome, we are torn between the Hotel Alimandi and Hotel Paba. Both are in our price range, and sound quite nice. The only difference seems to be the location. Any comments would really help.
Thanks, C |
cindyma I really don't know anything about the hotels you mentioned but my husband & I are staying at Paba in about 2 weeks. When are you going? Anyway, I chose Paba based on 2 other forum reviews. I also think the Alimandi got good reviews on these other 2 forums also.

Cindyma: I wanted to put in a plug for the Alimandi Hotel. My wife and I and 3 other couples stayed there in the dreadful heat of June 2003, and we absolutely loved it. The owners were terrific, very helpful, the rooms were spotless with AC and we were a 2 minute walk to the Vatican museums and 5 minutes to St. Peter's. We would absolutely stay there again. If the location is suitable, I wouldn't hesitate.

The Alimandi is in a neighborhood that is full of nice, inexpensive restaurants and it is only about 4 blocks to the Ottavanio subway stop. Another plus is that they have a free shuttle service to and from the airport during certain hours. The breakfast is very nice- lots of choices.

Hello Cindyma,
I was wondering if you did end up staying at the Hotel Alimandi. If so how dificult was it to get to to the other sites (not Vatican) in the Old City. Did you take taxi, bus, train or did you walk. If you walked, how long was the average stroll to the other sites. Thanks. |
