hotel choice help

We are looking at Star Hotel Michelangelo and Del Senato. I realize Senato has gotten great reviews, but recent comments lead me to believe it is ove-priced. The Michelangelo is half the price. Is it's location a bad one (we enjoy walking instead of public transportation for sight seeing.

I haven't stayed at Del Senato but I have peaked in and it looks very nice. Instead we stay on the other side of the Pantheon at Santa Chiara. It is less than Del Senato and the location is great. Highly recommened here.

Hi V,

The Star Hotel Michelangelo is up by the Vatican.

If saving money is important, you can always take the bus or metro to the main sights.

Rome metro and bus map is at http://www.atac.roma.it/

Have you, by any chance, checked availability at either place for May? The reason I ask is that we are staying at del Senato in May and booked our room a year ahead. May is such a popular time for Rome! Happy travels...

I stayed at the Michaelangelo two years ago . .

Make sure you check out the room before you okay the room . .

I complained about the room and they switched me to a BEAUTIFUL room . .

Then when I asked why the crappy room in the first place at the desk, he said something about my last name being 'Sicilian' . .

But it's a beautiful hotel, nice restaurants in the area . . and the Vatican is right up the block!

I've stayed at the Del Senato. It's a very nice hotel in a great location. That said, if it's too much money for you, I'd keep looking.

I wouldn't want to be out by the Vatican for a (first?) trip to Rome.
