Hotel Casci in Florence

Has anyone stayed at Hotel Casci in Florence? I usually try to stay at 3 star places, and this hotel is a 2 star, but it looks decent.. Thanks.

just be sure your hotel is close to the major sites...we stayed at the Hotel Morandi in June and loved it...found that the farther you are from the central sights, the harder it is...MS

Hi
the hotel has been praised often before on this forum, you can do a search here by its name. People have said that the location is excellent, the rooms clean and of good size, the breakfast room charming. One person mentioned that the rooms facing the street might be a bit noisy, but the windows are double-glazed

Stayed at the Casci in '99. Elaine's comments are correct: :...location is excellent, the rooms clean and of good
size, the breakfast room charming." It's 2 blocks from the Duomo, 2 blocks from Pza. San Marco, 2 blocks from Medici Chapels. <http://www.hotelcasci.com>

My mother, sister and I stayed at the Casci in September, when we were unable to book any of our preferred 3 star hotels. We were pleasantly surprised. For a 2 star hotel, we found the air conditioning very efficient, very comfortable beds and pillows, very nice, crisp sheets and towels, and double glazed windows that provided very good sound proofing as our room faced Via Cavour (we never heard any street noises at night or had any trouble sleeping). Also, they have someone to help with the luggage. The location was excellent, as everyone else has said. The only things we didn't care for were the shower (in room 2 there is a sort of "umbrella type" shower curtain that is meant to enclose a sort of semi-circle around you as you shower, but it is actually quite amusing to battle with it as it sticks all over you while you try to wash your hair without totally soaking the entire bathroom!) Also, breakfast was nothing special, but the coffee is quite good, and the owners are very proud of their coffee maker! The owners are cordial and helpful, without being gushing. All in all, we found it to be very good value, very clean, and superbly located. By the way, we looked at some other rooms there, and it seems most of the others have "normal" (not semi-circular) showers. The hotel has a kind of rustic charm. I would be happy to stay there again, unless I decided to splurge and upgrade a bit, but would still prefer that area (Via Cavour).

My wife and I and our three kids stayed at the Casci in February of this year. I second all the favorable comments here. Great location, clean and comfortable room, very pleasant breakfast, helpful with arrangements, etc. No complaints.

I have booked a triple room at the Casci for 3 nights July 2001. Thanks for you great comments. They were very helpful via email when I needed reassurance that we had a BED each!

Add me to the Casci enthusiasts, It is a great hotel, large rooms, nice staff, great price and the location can't be beat. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Enjoy your trip.
