Hotel Caron De Beaumarchais Web Site?
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew if the Hotel Caron De Beaumarchais in Paris has a web site?
Read some good comments on the rants and raves section here, so am curious to see their web site, to maybe check out what some of the rooms look like.
How far in advance do you suggest reserving a room at this hotel--4-6 months? (for the months of either May/June)
Thanks for the help!

The rooms are very small, but tastefully done. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The neighborhood, the Marais, is not for the faint hearted. It's loaded with restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and young people.
It's also close to many attractions such as Notre Dame, Ile St. Louis, Vosges, and a plethora of museums. It's close to the main East-West metro line.
If you can tolerate the petite rooms and like the area you should choose soon, if you want a room there. We booked 6 months in advance for a May '99 visit, and got a less than ideal interior room. There were no other rooms at the hotel to which we could have moved.

I just booked successfully for a November trip, but cancelled after reading a post here about the neighborhood. I've been to Paris before, but never stayed in the Marais. I was looking for something a bit more centralized, so opted to cancel my reservation at Caron de Beaumarchais.

I'm sure you'll be happy with your new hotel, but the Marais location of the Caron imo is centralized, as you know it's just on the "other side" (right bank) of the center. It's quite close to a metro stop, and a short walk to Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame, etc).
It's just not as touristed as the 5th, 6th, 7th, as you probably also know.

For elaine:
Actually, I debated long and hard before settling on my choice--and I haven't even made a final decision yet. But for various reasons, I opted for the Left Bank instead of the right. Do you know anything about Hotel de l'Universite or Hotel Lenox in St. Germain/Invalides area?
I could probably still get in at Hotel Caron De Beaumarchais....

Thank you to everyone who replied.
One other question for those of you that have stayed there: is it better to request a "courtyard" room or a "facade" room?
I would think that they courtyard would be pretty and maybe peaceful. Or do people like the facade, because it faces the street?
Which is quieter, or does it make a difference in this hotel?
Thanks again!

The courtyard is very small and dark (since its size permits little sunlight to enter). We had a courtyard room which felt a little too cozy.
I'd much prefer a room with a balcony overlooking rue Vielle de Temple. There is an amazing, entertaining stream of street life on that rue. I could imagine, but don't recall, some noise, given the volume of foot traffic. There is no motor vehicle traffic to notice. Having said that, I believe there is less dense humanity in the 4th than in many parts of the 5th and 6th arrondissements. And, the people who come seem to be locals rather than tourists.
Cannot imagine anything being more central to the things that attract us to Paris. 'Course, that's the key. I'm an ambler and consider it a leisurely stroll (30 minutes or less) to the Louvre in the West, Luxenbourg Gardens in the South, Pompidou Center in the North and the Bastille in the East. Unless you're going far west all Paris is within reach by foot. You could not sample everything inside that perimeter in several lifetimes. Even then, the Caron de Beaumarchais is only a few blocks from two stops, Hotel de Ville and St. Paul, on the main East-West Metro line.
