Cant decide between the two. Any feedback welcome. Family of four travelling together.

I use Tripadvisor.com extensively to evaluate hotel options. After review of the information there, I selected Hotel Davazanti for my trip in August.

My family stayed at the Brunelleschi several years ago. We had three rooms, all dark and pretty dreary and ours was so noisy we moved after two days.

I have not stayed at the Davanzati but the location is good and the reviews positive.

Hi ellene,
I stayed at the Brunelleschi just last month for three nights. The place definitely needs a facelift, but the location is great! I found it adequate for my needs and the staff helpful enough. The streets can be noisy at night, but not a problem with windows closed. I think all of the streets in Florence are noisy at night, so that may be an issue everywhere. Wherever you stay, don't miss dinner at cafe Nataloni(I think that's right). Also, the Brunelleschi is right across the street from the best gelato I had in Italy(Festival del Gelato. Have a great time!!

Try the Relais Cavalcanti in Florence. It is central, right by the Ponte Vecchio, the Accademia, the Uffizi, etc.

Rates are very reasonable. My daughter and I shared a twin room, and here's a link to my trip report, including some restaurant recommendations:

OMG - stay at the Davazanti.... Stayed there in May 08. Fabrizzio and Tommaso are wonderful hosts. The daily happy hour was fantastic and they are aimed to please. Making restaurant reservations to reservations at the Accademia.

Just note there is about 21 stairs up to catch the elevator at the Davazanti. Go up the stairs and then turn left and there is the elevator. I missed it and walked up the other 2 floors. They have a bell cap to help with luggage.

We had a superior room that had a terrace with chairs and umbrella/table.

I just can't say enough good things about the hotel.

Stayed at Hotel Davanzati last October. It was perfect in all areas and the owners are truly sincere.
